I first met John many years ago when I was wanted to get back into shape as I was approaching a milestone birthday. Working with John over several months, I was able to lose weight and improve my overall fitness level.
Several years went by and in the fall of 2016, I found myself back at Body Balance. During the winter of 2016, I suffered a snow skiing injury that required surgery and a very long recovery period that severity limited my activity level. When I completed my rehab, I started working out at a “big box gym” but I was not consistent, didn’t really know what to do or where to start. I knew that I needed to do something drastic to get in shape.
Working with Donna twice a week, we laid out a plan to get me back on track. By January 2017, my strength and endurance increased to the point I could comfortably join the Saturday morning boot camp.
Beginning in January 2017, I started being more mindful of my diet and gradually increased my workouts and, both at Body Balance and on my own. Since that time, I have lost over 25 lbs.,
dropped 4 inches off my waist, and decreased my BMI.
More importantly, my overall fitness level is much improved; in 2107 I was able to successfully complete three Obstacle Course Races. This meant climbing ropes, heavy carries over long
distances, trail runs over hilly rough terrain and completing a variety of other obstacles. There was no way I would have ever considered taking on these challenges without the support, knowledge and training provided by John, Kristi, Karl, Donna, and the rest of the Body Balance team. I am looking forward to completing the Spartan Trifecta in 2018 with the Body Balance Spartans!!
